Neil graduated from Binghamton University and began his career supporting and selling technology systems in New York and Boston. He earned certifications in networking, computer repair, and printer support, before joining Ziff-Davis Publishing, where he spent 10 years in various high-impact technical roles.
At Ziff-Davis:
He served as the technical lead for a software development division that scaled from fewer than 10 employees to nearly 200 in just over a year.
At PC Week, Neil was responsible for production needs at the world’s largest tech-focused newspaper, helping launch some of the first-ever live-streamed video and audio feeds.
He also wrote the popular “Net Advisor” column, answering networking-related reader questions for over 120,000 weekly subscribers.
Neil is also the author of The IT Professional’s Guide (McGraw-Hill), a practical handbook for supporting users, managing systems, and working with vendors.
In 2002, Neil transitioned into education, becoming a licensed computer science and special education teacher in Massachusetts. Since then, he has taught:

He established a two-year cybersecurity pathway in his school district and is known for his hands-on, real-world teaching approach.
